The following next two pictures are the "after" shots at the Allentown Fair. I won the event. The car still ran and I drove it off the field for the second time that day. As it went, there was first a qualifying derby, four heats having around 25 cars each, then the final heat. This car survived two heats and was still alive. My derby name was "Captain Crunch". I have to admit developed quite a reputation as a formidable contender. Developed certain mechanical alterations, that, by making the car weaker in certain areas, you made the car stronger. Also, various changes like having one wheel brake, square tube collapsing drive shaft. Before each event the engine was removed and several modifications were made. Several times the other drivers, who didn't spend the time and effort as I did, complained to the judges. After reviewing the rules and inspecting the car, I was cleared for the derby.

After winning in Allentown, brought the car home. It still ran like a bear. So, another derby was scheduled for the Bloomsburg Fair a few weeks later. The car, pictured above, was entered in the event. In that derby, I finished second. The car still ran like a bear. What knocked me out of the race, I got nasty hit in the drivers's door, so hard it bent the dash and severed the steering column. It still ran but couldn't steer.

The picture below is after the second derby in Bloomsburg. It was quite funny at the second derby, driving in with this car, all smashed up as pictured above, to register for the event. Other drivers were making fun until they heard the car fire up and I drove it off the trailer.
